Event

Tuesday April 28, 2009 — WiTT Meeting

Time: 4:30 pm - 6 pm

Topic: "Here and Now: How the USA can improve relevancy in the global IT market”

Speakers:

Ben Bryant

Jeff Brittain

The need to attract young, sharp and talented I.T. professionals is becoming a growing concern for many companies. Yet enrollment in computer related majors throughout the country is down nearly 70% over the last nine years.

What is the future role of an IT professional in the US? What can colleges and universities do to prepare the workforce of the future? Why are young people not being attracted to I.T.? What can businesses do to help?

Cook Systems has been researching these issues for the last five years. Having partnered with 30 educational institutions across the nation, Cook Systems has developed an approach to return students to IT. Cook’s team will provide a more in-depth look into the “perfect storm” that will occur in the next few years as well as offer creative ideas that are being used to change this disturbing trend.

Please join us for this exciting, informative session that will help you learn more about these workforce issues and how you and your company can get involved now to start preparing for the future.
