March 2005 meeting — Managing a Global IT Operation

Willis Group Holdings Ltd. (aka Willis Corroon)

About our speaker: Mr. Morris' organization supports the day-to-day computing operations for Willis Group Holdings Ltd. Willis is a $2.2B international insurance brokerage with over 14,500 employees operating 300 offices in 80 countries serving clients in more than 180 countries. Mr. Morris is responsible for operation of Willis' two primary data centers located in Nashville and the UK as well as global network operations, service desk support, server maintenance, application support, security and desktop equipment.

Mr. Morris came to Willis in 1996. He began his career in 1975 with General Electric's Federal Systems Division providing application development services to NASA and the Department of Defense. After 13 years with General Electric he acquired venture capital from Xerox and purchased a document management systems business from General Electric which was later acquired by SAS. Just prior to joining Willis, he led the development of a large on-line system for Commerce Clearing House (CCH), which publishes the federal tax codes, regulations and committee reports. He also provided document management consulting services to companies such as Knight Ridder and MacDonalds Corp.

Mr. Morris graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS and MS degree in electrical engineering and has attended numerous management, financial and executive development programs through GE's Crotonville on the Hudson, the University of Alabama - Huntsville, and George Mason University.
